I have lived in Watton at Stone since 1981 and have been a governor of the School since 1987. During that time I have seen many changes to the education system that our children experience and I have been convinced for a long time that the quality of education that they get in their early years at school is a vital foundation for achieving their full potential in their later school careers.
I have 3 sons who all attended the school and my wife, Prue, taught there for a number of years. I have been an active member of the Friends of Watton School and have been both Treasurer and Chair in the distant past. I now have grandchildren who are just starting their journey through our Early Years Foundation Stage so have a continuing interest in the work of the school.
In my working life I have been in the IT industry for over 40 years and in the past have set up and run my own software business. I am currently retired but keeping quite busy with a number of interests.
In addition to being a Governor at Watton School, I am also a Governor and Deputy Chair of a federation of primary schools in the London Borough of Enfield. This is known as the Field Federation. The school has recently been awarded Teaching School status and has been judged Outstanding at its latest Ofsted inspection in 2012.
