Headteachers Welcome

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to Watton at Stone Primary School.  Our website aims to give you an overview of our school, as well as providing important information for the whole school community.  We hope that you enjoy your visit and find the website informative and helpful. We also now have produced a virtual tour of the school which is also available to view on the home page of our website. This will show you many of the main and most important aspects of the school, you will get to see the children in the classrooms and outdoors and will explain why we believe that our school is a wonderful place for your child to attend and flourish, not just academically, but also socially and emotionally. However, if you are a prospective parent of the school, then we would prefer to personally show you around the school of which we are incredibly proud.

As a school, we are committed to providing the very, very best learning opportunities for your child in a safe, secure and friendly environment.  As part of my commitment to raising standards, we are excited to deliver a bespoke curriculum linked to the full statutory national curriculum.  All pupils at Watton at Stone will have the opportunity to learn to speak a language, learn to play an instrument, learn to swim and to visit many places of interest.  Preparing pupils for life in modern Britain and the demands of the 21st Century is a key focus.  This means that we have a strong emphasis on using technology as a learning tool. We have subscribe to a fantastic resource called Purple Mash and have  invested in our IT equipment and devices so that the children from pre school to Year 6 have more opportunities to use these across the curriculum. In order to prepare the children at Watton for the world outside of the education setting, we also place much importance to educating the children around diversity and online safety.

There is no limit on how well all pupils can achieve. We have the highest expectations for all of our children, and as a school, we expect them to aim high and to achieve their full potential.  I feel it is important that pupils at Watton at Stone achieve academically as well as developing their personal and social skills, both in and out of school.  I, together with my staff, have a strong belief in excellent behaviour for conduct, where children have good manners and respect for all.  Our established behaviour system ‘Good to be Green’ has been incredibly successful and all children understand our high expectations for their conduct and behaviour around the school. The children are also very aware of our 'Great to be Gold' standards for their behaviour and learning and children who achieve these are rewarded in our weekly celebration assembly.

We also place great importance on teaching, modelling and promoting excellent behaviour for learning. These are the skills and attributes that the children will need in order to  be excellent learners across the curriculum. These include skills such as resilience, working alongside others, having empathy and kindness and having high aspirations.

We hope that you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find it informative and helpful.  If you would like to arrange a visit to our school, please contact the main office.
