Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP)
Since April 2015, pre-schools, nurseries, schools and childminders have been able to claim extra funding through the Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) to support children’s development and learning.
The EYPP can provide an extra £302 a year for three and four year old children who have been in care, adopted from care or whose parents are in receipt of certain benefits. The aim of the funding is to close the achievement gap for disadvantaged children supporting them to develop the skills they need to be successful, life-long learners.
We can use the extra funding in any way we choose as long as it is used to improve the quality of the early years’ experience that we provide for the children. This could include providing specialist speech and language support, phonics teaching or purchasing specialist resources to meet the individual needs of the child. Parents/carers will be kept fully informed as to how this money is being spent to benefit their child and the impact it is having.
A wide range of evidence is used to show the impact of interventions which have been sourced through EYPP funding:
- Early Years Outcomes sheets
- Individual trackers
- Unique child summaries
- Parent voice
- Pupil voice
- Case studies
We know that a high quality early education can influence how well a child does at both primary and secondary school so we are very keen to access this funding where we can. Therefore, we ask that all parents/carers of three and four year olds (preschool and nursery) complete the registration form which can be accessed below. This will allow us to claim the additional early years pupil premium for eligible children. You can either print a copy of the form using the link below or collect a paper copy from the school office. If preferred, you can also complete the form online, in school, where a member of our admin team will be happy to support you successfully through the process.
If you have any questions or queries, please contact Mrs Gill (Pupil Premium Lead) or the school office.
